Carl Weisbrod, commissioner of the Department of City Planning, selected the head of the agency’s Brooklyn office for the role of executive director.
Purnima Kapur, who has worked with City Planning for 25 years, was involved in affordable housing negotiations with Two Trees Management’s Domino Sugar site, according to Crain’s. She also previously served as director of the agency’s Bronx office, where she oversaw rezoning that paved the way for housing and economic development initiatives in the Port Morris and Morrisania neighborhoods. She was also involved in land-use applications for the new Yankee Stadium and Bronx Terminal Market.
The agency will also soon hire its first chief operating officer in an effort to move project reviews along more quickly, according to Crain’s. [Crain’s] — Julie Strickland
