The 300-acre Fort Greene industrial park joined the National Register of Historic Places yesterday. Officials at the Brooklyn Navy Yard hope the designation will make way for a surge in funding for its projects. One of the projects is a proposed 220,000-square-foot green manufacturing center, for which it received $15 million from the state Senate in 2009, as previously reported.

“It’ll make securing historic tax credits easier for us with the purpose of restoring historic buildings and creating jobs,” David Ehrenberg, president of Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation, told the New York Daily News. [NYDN]Mark Maurer
