Doctoroff wants to put a deck over the rail yards and build an Olympic stadium there. His plan also includes thousands of housing units for the athletes, as well as a convention center. He first had the idea to bring the Olympics to the city in the 1990s, and attempted to draw the 2012 summer games to the Big Apple, proposing the site now known as Hudson Yards. Key to Doctoroff’s idea was a stadium on the west side of the island.

While the proposal for that stadium and the bid for the 2012 Olympics are long gone, Doctoroff, who now serves as CEO of Bloomberg LLP, is trying again with the 2024 Games. [Crain’s] — Claire Moses
