The State University of New York is fielding proposals from nine different teams looking to take over Long Island College Hospital, according to an announcement by state officials Friday night.

Only four of the proposals would restore the Cobble Hill facility to a full-service hospital, successfully meeting “the minimum mandatory requirements” for such action, SUNY spokesman David Doyle told DNAinfo. All nine were filed by March 19, and a team of estate officials, community and union representatives will decide on a winner in a seven-day selection process.

Among the contenders are Brooklyn Health Partners, Fortis Property Group in conjunction with NYU Langone Medical Center and Luteran HealthCare, the Peebles Corporation, partnering with Maimonides Medical Center, North Shore-LIJ and ProHEALTH and Prime Healthcare Foundation. Brooklyn Health would operate a 300- to 400-bed full-service hospital with inpatient and outpatient facilities, while Fortis aims to open a healthcare center with a 24-hour emergency department, an urgent care facility and a cancer center. The Peebles proposal would provide a similarly freestanding 24-hour emergency facility and urgent center, in addition to a primary, specialty and diagnostic services center.
