In the second round of bids to rebuild a struggling Brooklyn hospital, two new contenders partnered with two previous bidders and offered to develop a comprehensive health care center.

Details of their proposal to acquire Long Island College Hospital will not be available to the public until next week.

The North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System and the Maimonides Medical Center joined developer Don Peebles and ProHealth Care Associates, both of whom submitted proposals during a previous round of hospital bids, in a plan submitted to owner SUNY Downstate this week.

Peebles initially proposed a mixed-use development for the Cobble Hill campus that would earmark 35 percent of the residential units as affordable housing, as previously reported. Peebles founded the Miami-based Peebles Corporation and is a stakeholder in multiple projects slated for government-owned parcels.

North Shore-LIJ once partnered with developer Bill Rudin in 2011 to gut-renovate the O’Toole Building that housed St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center, as previously reported. Maimonides is a Brooklyn hospital that houses the borough’s main cancer treatment center.

It appears ProHealth has replaced the Institute for Family Health, Peeble’s partner from the first round, Crain’s reported. ProHealth originally linked up with Fortis Property Group, but the development firm later found a new partner, the NYU Langone Medical Center.

Maimonides and ProHealth agreed a year ago to work together to build a web of physician practices across Brooklyn, although it isn’t clear whether Long Island College Hospital would be a part of that project, according to Crain’s. [Crain’s] — Angela Hunt
