Brooklyn Heights Cinema owner Tom Caruana is marketing the space for either sale or lease following failed attempts to secure approval for a residential addition to the building, at 70 Henry Street.

Massey Knakal is marketing the lot for either $30,000 per month or $7.5 million for purchase, Brownstoner reported. The Landmarks Preservation Commission failed to approve the addition in October 2013.

Still, Kenn Lawy, who operates the cinema, told Brownstoner that Caruana hasn’t abandoned plans to include the movie theater in the building’s reworking, if the LPC would ultimately approve such a plan. The Massey Knakal listing says Lowy has a month-to-month lease for the cinema, that the property could be delivered vacant and that the lot can accommodate a 10,000-square-foot residential building.

Caruana did not immediately respond to Brownstoner’s request for comment. [Brownstoner] — Julie Strickland
