Original Apthorp developer Maurice Mann is trying to sell his penthouse unit at the Laureate condominium for nearly $10 million — just two years after he purchased the pad for $7.37 million — according to a listing spotted by The Real Deal on StreetEasy.

Mann snapped up the unit at the Stahl Organization’s new luxury building at 2150 Broadway, at 76th Street, in December 2011. He’s now listed it for $9.89 million with John Barbato of residential brokerage Stribling & Associates.

Neither Mann nor Barbato was immediately available for comment.

Mann nabbed the unit after he was denied an apartment in 2011 at the nearby Apthorp, at 2211 Broadway, by his former development partners, Apthorp Associates and Broadwall Management. Those partners allegedly agreed to sell him apartment 2C at the building but then refused and offered him apartment 6A for undisclosed reasons. Mann lost his legal battle for the unit earlier this year.

The developer was removed as a sponsor at the Apthorp when the building fell into financial difficulties during the economic crisis.

The 2,532-square-foot pad at the Laureate, which has a Juliet balcony, has been re-designed by the owner with custom interiors and furnishings by designer Geoffrey Bradfield, according to the listing. It’s currently configured as a one-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom spread with a library and a media room but can be restored to its original three-bedroom layout.

The 20-story Laureate condominium has an attended lobby, landscaped common terraces, a fitness center, a music room and a children’s playroom with an outdoor playground.
