The owners of a converted factory building in East Williamsburg are seeking protection under the so-called Loft Law, which would allow tenants to remain in their apartments.

The landlord filed the request with the Department of Buildings. The industrial property at 304 Boerum Street, which has an alternate address of 100 White Street, has been hit with several city Environmental Control Board violations over the past eight years, starting when the conversion occurred in 2005.

The state’s 2010 Loft Law allows residents to legally reside in industrial properties that were illegally converted.

Earlier this month, the owners of an illegally converted Bushwick building at 449 Troutman Street also sought protection under the Loft Law as they marketed the ground floor for commercial use, as previously reported. [Wyckoff Heights]Mark Maurer
