A new hotel planned for Williamsburg’s Wythe Avenue may wear its insides on the outside.

Adventurous architects HWKN have released renderings for a new hotel planned for 96 Wythe Avenue, between North 12th and North 11th streets.

Made of brick, the 50,000-square-foot funky hotel is to be topped with steel bones, graced with balconies on one side and topped by a steel topiary that resembles a bell tower. The Real Deal first reported developer Heritage Equity Partner’s plans to develop a 150-room hotel on the site in June 2012 — a project then slated for completion within 24 months.

Heritage Equity Partners recently snapped up a number of properties in the area, including 19 Kent Avenue, a 160,000-square foot site for which the developer and partner Michael Lichtenstein of Lichtenstein Advisory Group paid about $30 million in October 2012, and 310 North 7th Street, which the company bought in May 31 for $9.45 million. Correction: Marc Kushner of HWKN has clarified that these renderings were purely speculative and that they will not be used. HWKN is not the architect on the project.
