Developer Ravi Patel unveiled plans yesterday for a $10 million expansion of the 63-key Ravel Hotel in Long Island City, which would add an additional tower — almost doubling the total number of rooms.
The second building, adjacent to the hotel at 8-08 Queens Plaza South, would have 54 guest rooms with terraces and two bridal suites. It will be known as the Estate at Ravel and will also feature a 35,000-square-foot outdoor space, garden and ballroom. In the winter, the pool will be converted into an ice skating rink.
The project is slated to be completed by May next year. The Ravel, known for its rooftop bar and views of Manhattan, opened in 2007. [Curbed] — Mark Maurer
