Commercial broker Kenneth Laub’s four-story townhouse at 163 East 64th Street is back on the market for $27.5 million, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The 8,000-square-foot home with five bedrooms and eight bathrooms is between Lexington and Third avenues. It originally listed in 2008 for $35 million, before being reduced to $29.5 million and then $24.95 million.

Listing agent Michelle Evi Bourgeois of Town Residential told the Journal that the price went back up because the market is stronger. The property had been off the market for about a month.

Laub, who has done deals with Hess Oil and Bear Stearns, bought the Renaissance-style townhome in 1986 for $4 million and extensively renovated it.

Built in 1872, it features 12-foot ceilings, a library with the original pine, a living room with a walnut bar, a walk-in wine cellar and a bluestone terrace.

Adjacent properties are also selling for $14 million and $16 million. [WSJ] –TRD
