The full 25-room duplex, which boasted such extravagances as black marble and gold leaf, first hit the market for $14.5 million in 2005, shortly after Vilar was arrested for swindling the mother of “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” actress Phoebe Cates. The price was then slashed to $13 million, and later the duplex was separated into two apartments that sold separately.

The 14-room apartment on the 24th floor that is relisted has been renovated and is far less gaudier than the original. At one point, it had  been offered as a rental for $22,500 a month, as The Real Deal reported  [Curbed]  Hiten Samtani
