Updated at 5:50 p.m. April 16: Residents of an East Village building recently acquired by real estate scion Jared Kushner are taking the young mogul to Housing Court this week over allegations he failed to provide basic services at the property in the two months following the acquisition in February, EV Grieve reported.

Tenants of the unidentified building allege that Kushner failed to provide heat, hot water and even a locked front door at the property and prioritized securing 7-11 as a tenant on the ground floor over their well-being. Construction work to make way for the new tenant has also caused cracks in the walls of apartments, the tenants said.

A spokesperson for Westminster Management, Kushner Companies’ property management division, told The Real Deal that the company was “committed to creating a responsive, welcoming and secure community” during the management transition.

“The third party inspection reports show that there were no violations beyond not having a sign in the lobby indicating the name and address of the superintendent which will be fixed immediately,” he said.

The building is reportedly one of 17 in a portfolio Kushner acquired earlier this year from Manhattan-based real estate investment management company Westbrook Partners and developer Ben Shaoul. He paid a combined $130 million for the buildings, which are situated between East 2nd and East 13th streets and First Avenue and Avenue B. [EV Grieve]Katherine Clarke
