A young real estate agent is claiming the head of a Manhattan-based brokerage worked him tirelessly, withheld wages, attacked him and even urinated on his clothing. Citing documents filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, the New York Daily News reported that Albert Sultan, a former employee of Jack Terzi Real Estate founder Jack Terzi, filed a lawsuit against his boss seeking $5 million in damages.
Sultan claims over the course of his three years of employment at the firm, Terzi threw a pair of scissors at him, berated him repeatedly, sneezed in his face contemptuously, ran sweatshop-like conditions (including 60-hour weeks with no sick days or vacations), did not pay Sultan for six months and even urinated on an item of his clothing while others watched, to name a few complaints.
Terzi filed a countersuit against Sultan, alleging his former assistant stole confidential information from Jack Terzi Real Estate before launching his own business after resigning from Terzi’s company in mid June. An attorney for Terzi told the Daily News that Sultan is simply an angry former employee. “The allegations are unfounded and untrue,” the statement said.
A hearing to address both lawsuits is scheduled for Aug. 23. [NYDN]
