Vice President JD Vance agreed to sell his home in Alexandria faster than his rapid rise to national prominence.
Vance is in contract to sell the home at 9 East Del Ray Avenue in the Virginia city after listing the property for $1.7 million, Mansion Global reported. The home was in contract by Monday, despite him listing it only four days earlier.
It’s unclear who the prospective buyer is and whether or not they were aware of the affiliation with the second-highest ranking official in the country. Vance purchased the property only two years ago for $1.64 million, a month after being sworn into the Senate as a member of Congress.
TTR Sotheby’s International Realty’s Robert Crawford and Tyler Jeffrey had the listing.
Built in 1925, the relatively modest farmhouse-style residence spans 2,500 square feet, including five bedrooms, three bathrooms and one half bathroom. The modernized interior space has a wood-burning fireplace, while the primary suite has a walk-in closet and attached office. There’s also a backyard with direct access to a park and a separate accessory unit with a kitchenette, wood-burning fireplace and full bathroom.
The vice president of the United States typically lives in the United States Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C.’s northwest neighborhood, rendering Vance’s Alexandria property unnecessary.
The park connected to the home was temporarily closed for the family’s security in the wake of the election, according to the New York Post, and the increased security in the area proved to be a detriment to neighbors.
After Donald Trump’s re-election in November, residential brokers around the nation’s capital began gearing up for an influx of government officials, carrying the promise of a luxury housing bump considering the volume of industry titans and billionaires attached to Trump.
Between the election and mid-February, more than 60 luxury homes in the market — typically carrying a price tag of at least $5 million — traded hands, The Agency DC told Fox Business last month.
