Developer Mitchell Robbins bought a renovated waterfront Boca Raton mansion for $16.2 million, as South Florida real estate’s busy season hits its stride.
Records show Robbins and his wife, Alison Robbins, bought the house at 1199 Spanish River Road from Emme Development, a Delaware entity managed by Margaretha Buerman. Buerman is a frequent investor in Palm Beach County real estate and the wife of American Rock Salt founder Gunther Buerman.
Carmen D’Angelo with Premier Estate Properties had the listing, and Gerard Liguori with Premier Estate Properties brought the buyer.
Robbins co-founded Tampa-based Robbins Property Associates in 2009. It owns multifamily properties across Florida, according to the firm’s website. He bought a mansion in Boca Raton’s gated Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club community for $5.5 million in 2019.
Margaretha Buerman owns residential properties across Palm Beach County. In 2020, she dropped $7 million on a pair of waterfront lots in Boca Raton. In 2022, she bought a waterfront Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club house for $6.3 million. Records show she and her husband bought their primary residence, an oceanfront house at 4019 South Ocean Boulevard in Highland Beach, for $4.8 million in 2019. Gunther Buerman’s firm is one of the largest producers of rock salt in the U.S.
She bought the Spanish River Road mansion for $9 million in 2023, according to property records. It was built on 0.4 acres in 2006, and spans 8,600 square feet, with five bedrooms, six bathrooms, two half-bathrooms and a pool, records show. She tapped Quinn Miklos Architects, Albanese Home Builders and Marc-Michaels Interior Design to complete an extensive renovation, the listing shows.
It hit the market for $18 million in October, according to Redfin.
The deal marks the latest pricey sale in Boca Raton, among the hubs of Palm Beach County’s luxury real estate market. In October, a trust tied to waste management boss Brendan Pantano bought a spec mansion for $19.8 million. In August, Leandro Rizzuto Jr., the son of the Conair founder, closed a trio of Boca Raton deals that totaled $35.5 million.
