A member of the Cafaro real estate family paid $55 million for a waterfront spec estate in western Palm Beach County, marking the family’s second purchase in the same exclusive neighborhood.
Developer Aldo Stark sold the seven-bedroom, nine-and-a-half-bedroom mansion at 16171 Quiet Vista Circle in Stone Creek Ranch, a gated community in unincorporated Palm Beach County, west of Delray Beach. The sale was recorded in the Multiple Listing Service for $50.5 million, but the higher price includes furniture and other personal property, according to the listing agent, Senada Adžem of Douglas Elliman.
Adžem declined to comment on the buyer’s identity. A source confirmed to The Real Deal that a different member of the Cafaro family owns the nearby mansion across the waterway at 9200 Rockybrook Way. That property traded for $26 million in late 2023.
The Wall Street Journal first reported the identity of the buyer of 16171 Quiet Vista Circle. The family owns Cafaro, a Niles, Ohio-based retail real estate development firm. It was founded by William M. Cafaro, considered one of the pioneers of American malls, and is run today by his grandsons, co-presidents William A. Cafaro and Anthony Cafaro Jr.
It’s unclear which members of the family own each home in Stone Creek Ranch.
Adžem said she had “unbelievable” demand for the Quiet Vista Circle mansion. It was completed last summer and went into contract within 47 days of its listing for $55 million.
The home, she said, “has a lot of drama” with high-end materials covering walls, intricate millwork and ceilings and a “phenomenal” car gallery that is a centerpiece of the property. The estate was named Casa Maranello, inspired by the city of Ferrari’s factory in Italy. It also includes a pool, sports court and spa.
A company led by Stark paid $6.8 million in 2023 for the 2.5-acre lot, records show.
In December, Stark sold the house next door, a James Bond-inspired spec estate, for $36.8 million. Adžem also brokered that sale.
Stone Creek Ranch is a new community that was developed on 187 acres. It has fewer than 40 estates. Buyers have included billionaire Mets owner Steven Cohen, who bought a mansion for $21.6 million in 2021, and health care investor Dr. Eric Moskow, who paid $17.2 million for his estate that same year.
