Ruben Companies boss Richard Ruben sold his condo in Four Seasons Residences at the Surf Club to fellow developer Peter Fine for $14.3 million.
Records show Ruben’s Second Beach LLC, a Florida entity, sold unit S-1009 in the building at 9001 Collins Avenue to Fine.
Mick Duchon and Eloy Carmenate of the Corcoran Group had the listing, and Ximena Penuela of Fort Realty brought the buyer.
Fine is the founder of Atlantic Development Group, which builds affordable housing projects in New York City. Fine also develops spec homes in South Florida through his Miami Beach-based company To Better Days Construction. Last year, he sold his estate in East Hampton for $91.5 million.
Ruben is CEO of New York City-based Ruben Companies. Its portfolio includes office buildings in Boston, New York City and Washington, D.C.
He bought the Surf Club Four Seasons unit for $5.8 million in 2018. It spans 2,600 square feet, with two bedrooms, three bathrooms and one half-bathroom, according to property records.
Nadim Ashi’s Fort Partners completed Surf Club Four Seasons in 2017. The complex includes two 12-story oceanfront condo buildings, a 72-key hotel, a private club, four swimming pools and a restaurant by Thomas Keller. It was designed by Kobi Karp and Pritzker Prize-winning architect Richard Meier.
Surf Club Four Seasons has emerged as a favorite spot among South Florida’s luxury condo buyers. In April, an entity linked to Apple dropped a record $44 million for a penthouse in the complex. In September, financier Bippy Siegal sold his condo for $18.5 million, after buying it for $8.7 million in 2019. Others who have bought or sold units over the years include actress Lynda Carter, music producer Tommy Mottola, and his wife, Mexican singer and actress Thalía, and the Miami Heat’s Pat Riley and his wife Christine.
