Twin brothers Oren and Alon Alexander are facing felony charges of sexual battery, brought by Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle.

The charges, which include sexual battery by multiple perpetrators, are in addition to a federal indictment brought by the Southern District in New York against Oren, Alon and their older brother, Tal Alexander. The three brothers were arrested by the FBI in Miami-Dade County early on Wednesday and booked into jail.

Oren and Alon will appear in bond court Thursday, which means they will spend the night at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a press conference Wednesday that Oren, Alon and Tal would be transferred to federal custody in New York to answer for the charges, though the timeline remains unclear.

Oren was charged in three alleged instances of sexual assault, according to Fernandez Rundle. Alon and Ohad Fisherman, a family friend, were charged in one instance.

Fisherman is not included in the federal indictment alleging the Alexanders ran a sex trafficking scheme. He had not yet been detained and was considered “at large,” Fernandez Rundle said during a press conference.

Fisherman, who was licensed with Oren and Tal’s Side-backed brokerage, Official, now runs his own company called the Fisherman Group. Fisherman appears to be in Japan, according to photos posted to his Instagram story.

The arrests mark a dramatic turning point for alleged victims of the brothers, who prosecutors say violently raped and sexually assaulted dozens of women over the last two decades. Oren and Tal were top real estate brokers based in Miami and New York until allegations became widely reported this summer; while Alon worked at his family’s private security firm, Kent Security.

Federal prosecutors recommended the brothers be denied bail because they considered them a flight risk, according to a letter addressed to federal judges in Miami and New York. The prosecutors said the brothers have close ties to Israel, and that if they were to flee to Israel, they could try to “significantly delay or even avoid extradition back to the U.S.”

Prosecutors wrote that they’re also aware that Oren has been in contact with another U.S. citizen who fled to Israel after being accused of sexual misconduct.

“These foreign ties further support the need for the defendants’ pretrial detention,” the letter states.

At Wednesday’s press conference, Miami Beach Police Chief Wayne Jones called the allegations “deeply troubling.”

“A person’s socioeconomic status doesn’t matter,” he said. “Acts of sexual violence will always be investigated by Miami Beach PD.”

The alleged rapes

The federal indictment describes years of alleged behavior that amounts to two counts of sex trafficking and one count of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, but the arrest warrants for the twins and Fisherman cite three separate assaults.

In 2016, a victim showed up to one of the brothers’ apartments in Miami Beach after Alon invited her to what she thought was a barbecue with other people. Alon gave her a tour of the apartment into a bedroom where two women who appeared to be maids left, giving “her a look of concern on their way out,” according to an arrest warrant. Oren and Fisherman entered and locked the door behind them.

Fisherman forced her onto her back, pinning her arms, before the victim heard Alon and Oren “arguing about who was going to rape her first.”

The victim said she begged them not to. As Oren was raping her, she said she pretended to enjoy it “because she had heard that if you were ever in the situation of being raped, the aggressor typically does not like the victim to enjoy the moment and it could lead them to stop their attack.”

Oren “stormed out” but returned to watch Alon rape her. Oren told her she wasn’t leaving until she had sex with Fisherman, at which point she was crying hysterically, the arrest warrant states. Fisherman held her down as Alon and Oren sexually battered her.

As she showered, Oren entered the room. “She felt he was there to make sure she was in fact washing up and cleaning herself to rid her body of any possible evidence,” the warrant alleges.

In another instance in 2017, a woman who had met Oren and his family at the beach, joined him at a real estate event in Hallandale Beach, according to the arrest warrant. He “did not flirt with the victim or show any affection towards her,” spending most of the time on his phone, the arrest warrant states, but invited her to his home for a glass of wine.

“The victim mentioned she decided to accompany [Oren] to his residence because she thought that if they were alone, he would not be so socially awkward,” according to the warrant.

At his apartment, he offered to show her his virtual reality goggles, and as she had her back turned to him, he “unzipped her dress, completely removed it and moved her to his bedroom,” where she told authorities he raped her. She told police that she felt she was no longer in control of her body and couldn’t push him off. When she began crying, Oren told her to “stop it.”

Weeks later, she confronted him about the incident. He tried to kiss her, and he lowered his pants and ejaculated on her stomach. “The victim was disgusted and left the area,” according to the arrest warrant. When she later confided in her friends that she had been attacked by Alexander, she said her friends had similar stories. Months later, in 2018, when Oren heard she was telling her story, he threatened her via text to keep quiet.

In 2021, a woman alleges that during a dinner with a friend and Oren, Oren invited her back to his home via a car or boat. A group of people boarded the boat to head to the Alexander brothers’ former Miami Beach home on Flamingo Drive. Together with her friend and one of Oren’s friends, they entered the home and shared whiskey that Oren poured for them.

Oren later took her to a room adjacent to his bedroom, and he began to kiss her. He became aggressive, and when she tried to pull away, he ripped the top of her dress, leaving her topless, according to an arrest warrant.

She freed herself from Oren’s grasp, and grabbed a shirt from his closet, returning downstairs to find her friend and try to leave but was locked inside the house before asking Oren to let her out. When she returned upstairs, he pushed her onto his bed and sexually assaulted her, according to the warrant.

An earlier version of this story identified Ohad Fisherman as the Alexanders’ cousin, according to the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s office. He is a family friend.
