Lease roundup: OKO, Tao opening restaurant and lounge atop 830 Brickell; Japanese eatery on tap in Miami Design District

Also, a household goods showroom opened at George Merrick’s historic office and ballroom in Coral Gables

OKO Group, Tao Group Hospitality | Brickell 

A Mediterranean restaurant and a private lounge will open atop the 830 Brickell office tower. 

Miami Members Hospitality, a new joint venture between Vlad Doronin’s OKO Group and Tao Group Hospitality, will open the restaurant and members-only lounge next year on the top two floors of the 55-story building, according to an OKO Group news release. The tower is at 830 Brickell Plaza in Miami. 

Miami-based OKO Group and London-based Cain International completed 830 Brickell this year, marking the first standalone office tower in the Brickell Financial District in over a decade. Cain is led by Jonathan Goldstein. 

The tower is fully leased after becoming a magnet for new-to-market firms. Tenants include billionaire hedge funder Ken Griffin’s Citadel, law firm Kirkland & Ellis, private equity firm Thoma Bravo and insurance firm Marsh

The restaurant and lounge mark Miami Members Hospitality’s first venue. Tao Group, led by  co-CEOs Noah Tepperberg and Jason Strauss, runs restaurants, nightclubs and daytime entertainment venues, according to its website. It’s a subsidiary of Nicosia, Cyprus-based Mohari Hospitality. 

The square footage for the restaurant and lounge was not provided. 

Nami Nori, Matsuyoi | Miami Design District 

Japanese temaki restaurant Nami Nori will open its first Florida outpost in the Miami Design District

Launchpad Hospitality, in partnership with musician and Louis Vuitton creative director Pharrell Williams, will open Nami Nori and a new dining concept called Matsuyoi in 3,700 square feet at 156 Northeast 41st Street, according to the tenant’s new release and spokesperson. Nami Nori will open the week of Dec. 16 on the building’s ground floor, and Matsuyoi will open the week of Dec. 30 on the second floor. 

Launchpad Hospitality is led by managing partner Lisa Limb, as well as chefs and partners Taka Sakaeda and Jihan Lee. Williams partnered with the team this year and is an adviser on growth strategies. Launchpad’s next planned restaurant is in Virginia Beach, Virginia. 

Nami Nori, which specializes in open-style hand rolls, has outposts in Williamsburg and West Village in New York, as well as in Montclair, New Jersey, according to its website. Nami Nori and Matsuyoi, which will have a seasonally rotating menu, are designed to complement each other. 

Miami Design District Associates, a partnership that includes Craig Robins’ Dacra and L Catterton Real Estate, owns the building where the restaurants will open. 

University of Miami Health System | Boca Raton 

UHealth Boca Raton moved its clinic to Grover Corlew’s Palmetto Central office campus. 

The clinic leased 17,000 square feet at 1489 West Palmetto Central in Boca Raton, moving from its space at Florida Atlantic University’s Boca Raton campus, according to a Grover Corlew news release.

Palmetto Central consists of two buildings spanning 170,000 square feet. The second building is at 1499 West Palmetto Park Road. 

Grover Corlew, based at Palmetto Central, is led by principals Mark Corlew and Anuj Grover. 

Christopher King | Coral Gables 

A luxury leather goods, furniture and household goods showroom opened its first outpost in the former ballroom and office of Coral Gables founder George Merrick. 

Christopher King leased 12,000 square feet at Douglas Entrance at 800 Douglas Road in Coral Gables, according to news releases from the tenant and landlord’s broker. The showroom offers luxury leather goods, tableware, flatware, linens, bed and bath goods, and made-to-order furniture, the news releases say. 

Jonathan Carter and Pablo Camposano of Colliers represented the landlord. Alberto Lamadrid of Cervera Real Estate represented the tenant.

Douglas Entrance is a mixed-use development with four modern office buildings and the historic Merrick ballroom and office buildings completed in the 1920s. It’s also called La Puerta Del Sol at Douglas Entrance. 

West Palm Beach-based Colonnade Properties owns the campus. It paid $76 million for it in March. Colonnade is led by Chairman Joseph Sambuco and President Christopher Glinski. 

Pilar Coffee Bar and Iced Treats | Deerfield Beach

Pilar Coffee Bar and Iced Treats opened its flagship outpost on Monday in Deerfield Beach

The coffee shop, which has baked goods, as well as a breakfast and lunch menu, leased 1,800 square feet at 1500 Southeast Third Court at The Cove retail and dining development, according to the tenant’s news release. 

Boca Raton-based Whelchel Partners Real Estate Services owns the building, records show. 

Kai Lassen Hats | Palm Beach 

Hat designer and former model Kai Lassen opened a hat store in Palm Beach

Kai Lassen Hats leased 430 square feet at the Paramount mixed-use development at 139 North County Road, according to the tenant’s news release and website. 

The historic property opened in 1927 as a silent movie theater and then morphed into a retail and office complex with a church. West Palm Beach-based Woerner Holdings, which is the Woerner family’s holding company for their real estate, agriculture and other investments, paid $14 million for Paramount in 2021, records show.
