Emerati developer Aldar is launching sales for its planned Mandarin Oriental Residences in Abu Dhabi, the latest project in a global swell of branded luxury residences.

The planned Mandarin Oriental Residences will be in Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Cultural District, home to the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Guggenheim Museum and site of the planned Zayed National Museum, according to a press release. Danish architect Bjarke Ingels is designing the 226-unit planned complex. New York City-based designer Lillian Wu is handling interiors for the project.

Amenities in the building will include a spa, fitness center, beauty bar, residents’ lounge, private dining room and a Mandarin Oriental Cake Shop, the release shows. The project is slated for completion in 2028.

Aldar is led by CEO Talal Al Dhiyebi. It is one of the largest real estate developers in the United Arab Emirates, and in 2022 secured a $1.4 billion investment from Apollo Global Management.

The firm’s Mandarin Oriental Residences project marks the latest addition to a surging global pipeline of luxury branded residences. The trend has exploded in South Florida, where projects sport branding from fashion houses, culinary brands, sports cars, and legacy hospitality firms.  Dolce & Gabbana, Mercedes-Benz, Elle Magazine, Cipriani and St. Regis are all brands splashing their names across the Miami skyline

Branded projects have also boomed in Emerati cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi. A $1 billion planned Mercedes-Benz-branded tower launched earlier this year, the New York Post reported. Bulgari, Armani and Baccarat all have luxury condo projects going skyward in Dubai, according to CNN
