Venture capitalist Ken Seiff bought a condo at Four Seasons Residences at the Surf Club in Surfside for $24 million.

Records show Eric Kenneth Seiff bought unit S-901 at 9001 Collins Avenue from the trust of the late Marguerite DeLany Hark. Jackie Feldman of One Sotheby’s International Realty had the listing, and Miltiadis Kastanis and Pablo Alfaro of Douglas Elliman brought the buyer.

Seiff is managing partner at Miami-based Blockchange Ventures, which focuses on investing in blockchain technology.

Hark, who died in 2022, was a descendent of Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings, according to published reports. Her maternal grandfather was Walter Beverly Pearson, a great-grandson of Jefferson and Hemings. Pearson was also president of the Standard Screw Company, which is today known as the car parts manufacturer Stanadyne. Hark’s late husband, Dr. William A. Hark, was an orthopedic surgeon at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. Her jewelry collection sold for a combined $4.4 million at auction, according to the auction house Freeman’s | Hindman

Hark bought the Surf Club Four Seasons condo for $22 million in 2017, the year it was completed. The 5,900-square-foot unit has four bedrooms, six bathrooms and one half-bathroom, according to property records. Her trust listed the unit for $30 million in May, and dropped the price to $28 million in July, Redfin shows.

According to Feldman, the unit had not been altered since Hark bought it. Yet, South Florida’s luxury buyers don’t want bare bones. They want completed units with all the finishes, she said.

“If we had had this unit completely decorated with millwork, built-ins, it could have gone for over $30 [million],” she said.

Nadim Ashi’s Fort Partners developed Surf Club Four Seasons, which was designed by Richard Meier and Kobi Karp. It includes a 72-key hotel, two 12-story condo buildings, a private club, four swimming pools, a gym and a Thomas Keller restaurant.

Last month, the owners of Total Wine & More bought a Surf Club Four Seasons condo for $15.9 million. In August, former Ford CEO Jacques Nasser sold a unit for $18.5 million. In July, a Florida entity linked to a real estate agent sold a condo for $22.8 million.
