The family of Lionel Messi, one of the top soccer players in the world, picked up a luxury condo in Sunny Isles Beach, The Real Deal has learned.
Messi’s family paid $7.3 million for the entire ninth floor at Regalia, a condo tower at 19575 Collins Avenue, sources told TRD. The purchase comes nearly two and a half years after the soccer superstar paid $5 million for a unit at Porsche Design Tower about 10 blocks south in Sunny Isles.
Messi, 33, is a forward and captain for FC Barcelona and Argentina’s national team. Forbes ranked him as the third highest-paid athlete in 2020. He raked in $104 million in salary, winnings and endorsements last year.
Mark Pordes and Adam Kaufman of Pordes Residential confirmed details of the sale. They had the 5,515-square-foot unit on the market for nearly $8 million. Jackie Rosado from Cardinal Realty Group represented the buyer, Celromalina LLC.
The buying entity is managed by Jorge Messi, Lionel’s father, state corporate records show.
The unit has four bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths, an additional 2,100 square feet of terrace space, and a 1,000-bottle wine cooler, according to the listing. It sold fully furnished.
Regalia, with 39 stories, has six pools, a spa, cabanas, a fitness center, yoga studio, children’s playhouse, a chef’s kitchen and a champagne bar and wine cellar.
Pordes and Kaufman were tapped last year to sell the remaining developer units at the tower, as part of a settlement agreement approved by a U.S. bankruptcy judge. The units, the penthouse and beach house, are the most expensive condos in the building.
The brokers said they received a lot of interest in the ninth-floor unit in January, and went into contract in March. Pordes and Kaufman, like other brokers, are seeing an uptick in condo sales. Their Aventura-based brokerage recently closed three sales at the nearby Turnberry Ocean Club in Sunny Isles Beach.
