UPDATED June 7, 1:20 p.m.: WeWork continues its rapid expansion in Miami.
The co-working giant leased about 90,000 square feet of office space in the Southeast Financial Center, Miami’s tallest office building. WeWork will occupy four full floors in the 55-story building at 200 South Biscayne Boulevard.
WeWork will open in phases, with two floors opening by the end of 2019 and the other two slated to open by summer 2020, the company said in a release.
JLL’s Matthew Goodman and Jeffrey Gordon represented WeWork in the lease negotiations. JLL’s Eric Groffman and Don Cartwright represented Southeast Financial Center’s ownership in the deal.
WeWork’s footprint in Florida will now total nearly 750,000 square feet. It has seven other locations open or planned in Miami-Dade County, including two in Miami Beach, two on Brickell, one in Coral Gables and another in downtown Miami. In February, WeWork announced it is moving into 30,000 square feet of office space in Wynwood.
Spanish billionaire Amancio Ortega, whose holdings include the fashion retailer Zara, paid $500 million for the Southeast Financial Center in 2016.
