Former basketball superstar Shaquille O’Neal re-listed his Orlando-area mansion and reduced his asking price by 21 percent.

In May, O’Neal listed the 12-bedroom house in Windermere with an asking price of $28 million – seven times more than he paid 25 years ago.

O’Neal bought the house for $3.95 million in 1998, when he was a player with the Orlando Magic. He was with the Magic from 1992 to 1996, then played for the Los Angeles Lakers before returning to Florida in 2004 to play for the Miami Heat.

The highly customized house has a 6,000-square-foot basketball court with bleachers, a walk-in cigar humidor, a 95-foot swimming pool with a hot tub and waterfall, and a swim-up bar that leads to a covered outdoor kitchen.

The residence has more than 35,000 square feet of living space, two showroom-style garages with room for 17 cars, and a built-in bed in the master suite with a 15-foot diameter.

The Superman logo is emblazoned throughout the house, a reference to one of O’Neal’s many nicknames for himself.

The original listing agent, Daniel Natoli of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty, told the Wall Street Journal earlier this year that O’Neal’s house is in good condition but a buyer probably would alter the look of the property “for their own taste.”

The agents now handling the listing are Jared Ringel, Chris Franciosa, and Dustin Fealy of The Agency Collective in South Florida. – Mike Seemuth
