Metro 1 hired Richard Edwards as executive vice president and managing director for north Miami-Dade and Broward counties, the company announced this week.
Edwards was previously president and owner of Edwards Realty Services, an off-market brokerage company, for 14 years. He’s worked on deals in North Miami, North Miami Beach, Aventura, Hollywood and downtown Fort Lauderdale, including Johnson & Wales University’s North Miami campus and the Regency Hotel and Spa in Hallandale Beach.
Metro 1’s founder and CEO Tony Cho is working on a handful of new projects, including the Magic City Innovation District in Miami and a mixed-use hotel near Brickell City Centre.
Edwards will focus only on investment sales in Miami and Broward. “We are going through an expansion process and part of my responsibilities will be teaching, leading and mentoring these agents,” he said.
His hiring comes about six months after Tony Arellano, executive vice president, left in December, later opening a new brokerage with commercial broker Devlin Marinoff. Former Metro 1 broker Alfredo Riascos also recently launched his own commercial real estate firm, called Gridline Properties.
And last year, Jaime Sturgis left Metro 1 to open Native Realty Co., a commercial firm based in Fort Lauderdale’s Flagler Village.
