Orlando-based Westgate Resorts rebranded and reopened an oceanfront hotel in Cocoa Beach following a $15 million renovation of the property.
The company on Thursday reopened the Polynesian-themed, 120-room Westgate Cocoa Beach Resort, formerly known as Wakulla Suites.
Westgate, which operates the nearby Cocoa Beach Pier, acquired the hotel at 3550 North Atlantic Avenue in 2016.
Guests of the renovated hotel will have access to complimentary shuttle service to Cocoa Beach Pier, which has five restaurants and bars, three retail shops, and such services as surfing lessons and rentals of bicycles and beach equipment.
The renovation project upgraded the hotel’s lobby, swimming pool and courtyard, and added new recreational features including a children’s splash pad, small water slides and a 335-foot “lazy river.”
Common-area amenities also include a game room, beach volleyball court, and shuffleboard facilities, plus access to chaise lounges, beach umbrellas, ice-filled coolers and complimentary sunscreen lotion.
The hotel’s on-site restaurants Aloha Tiki Bar and Beachside Cafe are expected to open in September. [Florida Today] – Mike Seemuth
