The Palm Beach Post reported that billionaire Jeff Greene is ready to hire a general contractor to build a 30-story office, hotel and apartment complex in West Palm Beach.
The city government approved Greene’s twin-tower development at 550 Quadrille Boulevard, called One West Palm, more than two years ago. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently decided that the 30-story development would not interfere with air traffic.
One West Palm would be the first new office building in West Palm Beach since 2008, when New York-based Related Cos. and Boca Raton-based Crocker Partners built CityPlace Tower, an office building at 525 Okeechobee Boulevard.
Related now plans to build an 18-story office building called 360 Rosemary near its CityPlace retail complex in West Palm Beach. The 360 Rosemary building would have 285,000 square feet of office space, about 42 percent more than One West Palm, which would have 200,000 square feet, plus a hotel and rental apartments.
Neil Merin, chairman of NAI/Merin Hunter Codman, told the Palm Beach Post that Greene and Related Cos. will need at least five years to lease the office space at both One West Palm and 360 Rosemary if they open simultaneously. [Palm Beach Post] – Mike Seemuth
