The Vagabond Hotel, the Betsy Hotel South Beach and East, Miami were among the winners of the first annual Miami Hospitality Design Awards.
The Greater Miami & the Beaches Hotel Association, the American Institute of Architects Miami and Oberhausen Marketing & Public Relations hosted the event at the Faena Forum in Miami Beach earlier this month. Developer Alan Faena was on hand to welcome the crowd of hoteliers, architects and hotel managers.
The Vagabond and the Betsy were also honored for their role in transforming neighborhoods.
Avra Jain completed the Vagabond, at 7301 Biscayne Boulevard in Miami’s MiMo District, in 2014 following a multimillion-dollar restoration and renovation. DB Lewis Architect designed the renovation. And the owners of the Betsy Hotel recently completed a renovation and expansion of the Art Deco property at 1440 Ocean Drive. Architect Allan Shulman worked on that project, which included adding an “orb” that connects the Betsy’s buildings. – Katherine Kallergis
