Keith Menin and wife buy waterfront Venetian Islands home for $6.25M

Keith Menin and his wife Evelyn Castro just paid $6.25 million for a waterfront home on the Venetian Islands in Miami Beach.

Records show the couple bought 241 East San Marino Drive, after selling Menin’s non-waterfront home at 2701 North Bay Road in Miami Beach for $3.1 million on Jan. 17. The buyer was Gilad Goldenholz, who is the owner of All City Construction Services, according to LinkedIn.

Nelson Gonzalez, senior vice president of EWM Realty International, brokered both ends of each deal.

The sellers of the San Marino Island home were William R. Cook Jr. and his wife Kim K. Cook, who have an address in Key Largo.

“I knew it was the perfect home for Keith because he has an incredible eye for real estate and design,” Gonzalez told The Real Deal. He saw the potential.”

It’s the second Venetian Islands home Gonzalez has sold in the past week. Last Monday he represented the buyer on a $22 million Di Lido Island spec home that set a record for the island chain. “The Venetian Islands are on fire right now,” he said.

At 6,827 square feet, the San Marino home has six bedrooms and six bathrooms, plus two half-baths. Built in 2002, it sits on a 17,500-square-foot lot. It has 100 feet of water frontage, according to the listing.

Designed as an Italian villa, the home features an open floor plan with 12-foot ceilings, arched doors and windows, a chef’s kitchen, large Ipe dock and detached waterfront guest house, the listing shows.

Menin had put his modern Art Deco home on North Bay Road on the market in November for $4.25 million, with plans to upgrade. The 3,794-square-foot, home on a 10,863-square-foot corner lot, has six-bedrooms and six-baths. Gonzalez had told TRD that it was built in 1926, and was designed for a famous jockey. After the jockey died it was turned into a museum by his family for about five years. Upstairs balconies still carry sculptures of a jockey atop a horse.

Menin, a principal at Menin Hospitality, is involved in more than 15 South Florida projects – bars, food and beverage concepts and hotels, along with his cousin and managing principal Jared Galbut. Menin‘s uncle is Crescent Heights developer Russell Galbut.

Menin Hospitality’s Bodega Taqueria & Tequila, at 1220 16th Street in Miami Beach, opened in early 2015, offering late-night tacos in the front and, through a walk-in refrigerator door, a speakeasy bar in the back. Ricky’s, a bar next to Bodega with live music and arcade games, is also in the works. And Al’s, a fast-casual eatery and bar, is expected to open in the former Firestone property at 1575 Alton Road this year. The company is also a partner on the Gale in Fort Lauderdale Beach, which is set to open in early 2018.
