A prominent South Florida surgeon listed his waterfront Golden Beach home for $20 million.

Cardiovascular surgeon Malcolm Dorman put his 4,620-square-foot house on the market after owning it since 1985. Douglas Elliman’s Janet Ben Zvi is listing the 0.8-acre property, at 443 Ocean Boulevard, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The Golden Beach house was built in 1941 and was renovated about five years ago, but is likely being listed as a teardown. At $20 million, the asking price breaks down to $4,329 per square foot for the house and $571 a foot for the land.

Golden Beach, a small 247-acre town north of Sunny Isles Beach, has been home to celebrities that have included Bill Gates, who’s recently completed assembling his own compound in Wellington; Ricky Martin and radio host Tom Joyner.

Dorman’s property includes a separate garage, cabana with two bathrooms and an oceanfront pool.

The surgeon is now mostly retired, Ben Zvi told the newspaper. Property records show he paid $700,000 for the house in 1985.

Nearby in Golden Beach, the Jills of Coldwell Banker are also listing the 1.5-acre estate of a South Florida philanthropist who died last year for $42.5 million.  [WSJ] – Katherine Kallergis
