Former presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson dropped $4.4 million on a Palm Beach Gardens mansion.

Records show Ben and Candy Carson bought the five-bedroom, 8,782-square-foot home at 12248 Tillinghast Circle from a mortgage company that bought the property out of foreclosure, according to the Daily Mail. The deal closed in June.

Carson, an adviser to Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, now lives about 18 miles away from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.  Closer neighbors include developer Don Soffer, South African golfer Louis Oosthuizen and English golfer Lee Westwood.

Developed in 2007, Carson’s 1.1-acre property includes two garages, a pool, a split floor plan and views of the Old Palm Golf Club. It hit the market in December for $5.4 million and reduced to $4.75 million in June. Jason Kraus of RSI Asset Management listed the home, while Thomas Baldwin of Equestrian Sotheby’s International Realty represented the buyer, according to Redfin.

The Carsons moved to Palm Beach County in 2013 after the neurosurgeon retired as head of pediatric surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. They still own their West Palm Beach home, which the couple bought from former Pittsburgh Steelers co-owner John Rooney, according to the Daily Mail. Carson is reportedly a golf enthusiast.  [Daily Mail] – Katherine Kallergis
