The Weekly Dish is a TRD recurring feature that showcases the latest in South Florida’s restaurant openings, leases and sales.

The space last occupied by Apeiro Miami, open for less than a year, was leased to Tap 42, a craft restaurant and bar. Chefs Jeff McInnis (you may remember him from Yardbird) and Janine Booth announced they were opening Stiltsville, a fish bar in South Beach. And two of Coyo Taco’s owners inked a deal for a new concept in Wynwood, although mum’s the word on what exactly it will be.

Tap 42 | Midtown Miami

After Apeiro Miami shuttered its doors in June, it was unclear whether the restaurant would return. Now, Tap 42 Craft Kitchen & Bar has announced it will occupy the 6,150-square-foot space at Midtown Miami.

Tap 42 expanded from Fort Lauderdale to Coral Gables earlier this year. The new Midtown location, on the corner of Northeast 33rd Street and First Avenue, includes a large outdoor patio and bar. It’s set to open in November, according to a press release.

Tapco Restaurant Group owns and operates Tap 42. The company has tapped EB-5 funding for its other locations, and is looking to expand to South Beach, Aventura and West Palm Beach, as well. The Midtown location will be primarily financed by a $2.5 million loan raising via EB-5 capital, Roger Bernstein, who arranged the funding, told The Real Deal via email. Bernstein is co-founder of American Life Investments, a South Florida-based regional EB-5 center.

“Many of the initial EB-5 investors funding the expansion of Tap 42 came from Venezuela, where families are looking for ways to immigrate to the U.S. as their country continues to endure hyperinflation, political instability and continued food shortages,” he said.

Stiltsville Fish Bar | South Beach

Grove Bay Hospitality Group is partnering with chefs Jeff McInnis and Janine Booth for Stiltsville Fish Bar in Miami Beach.

The two-story fish house and bar will open in the former Joe Allen and Pubbelly Steak space at 1787 Purdy Avenue in the Sunset Harbour neighborhood. The restaurant will offer classic seafood cookery with Key West style drinks. McInnis, formerly of Yardbird in Miami Beach, is also the chef at the Sarsaparilla Club at the Shelbourne Hotel.

Stiltsville is currently under construction and set to open during the first quarter of next year.

Grove Bay Hospitality, owned and operated by restaurateurs Francesco Balli and Ignacio Garcia-Menocal, recently opened Glass & Vine in Coconut Grove’s Peacock Park.

“It’ll have a gorgeous second story deck overlooking the water, a dine-in patio, great raw bar, daily sunset rituals and a communal table for interactive dining, like shrimp boils and oyster roasts,” Garcia-Menocal said in a statement.

Owners of Coyo Taco | Wynwood

Two Coyo Taco owners will launch a new Wynwood restaurant at 137-143 Northwest 23rd Street. An LLC controlled by the partners signed a lease for a 5,000-square-foot space with a 5,000-square-foot patio.

The restaurant’s lease is an annual rate of $62.50 triple-net, which comes out to about $26,000 a month. The off-market lease was brokered by Tony Arellano of Metro 1 and Fortune International Realty’s Ricardo Du Pond, and Tom Evental of Domain Real Estate Services.

Coyo will remain at its flagship Wynwood location, which is nearby at 2300 Northwest Second Avenue. The eatery announced it was opening a second Coyo at Axis Brickell in April.

Dusk by Cena pop-up | Design District

Michelle Bernstein is bring her team from Cena to Crumb on Parchment. Dusk, a pop-up at Crumb on Parchment, will be open Thursday through Saturday from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Mike Mayta and Keily Vazquez will helm the dinner service through Sept. 30, according to an announcement.

Cena by Michy shuttered in April when Michael Comras and Chaim Cahane bought the building at 6925 Biscayne Boulevard for a little more than $6 million.

Ghee Indian Kitchen | Downtown Dadeland

Chef Niven Patel, the former executive chef of Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink, will open Ghee Indian Kitchen at Downtown Dadeland.

Patel and his wife Shivani Patel will own and operate the restaurant, which is set to open in a 2,389-square-foot space in December. The daily, farm-to-table menu will source the couple’s Homestead farm, according to a press release. Dishes will include Patra, a fried vegetarian item made with elephant ears, chick pea paste, lemon juice, dried chilies, sesame seeds and a variety of other spices; and other Indian vegetables that include purple potato, ivy gourd and fenugreek leaf.

A joint venture between Pebb Capital and Duncan Hillsley Capital owns the open-air shopping center, which is across the street from Dadeland Mall. New additions to Downtown Dadeland include BurgerQ, The Brick, Faith & Pizza, Barley an American Brasserie, and Nanndi Frozen Cream & Pastry Shop.

Rafael Romero and Steven Henenfeld of Continental Real Estate Companies represented the landlord in the restaurant lease. CREC declined to disclose lease terms.

Crudos Fusion Sushi | Wynwood

Crudos Fusion Sushi will open at 250 Wynwood in an 1,800-square-foot space, next to Federal Donuts. Thor Equities is handling commercial leasing for the condo building at 250 Northwest 24th Street, where asking rent was $65 per square foot.

When it opens in late fall, Crudos Fusion Sushi will mark the first location in the United States for the sushi restaurant, owned by South Americans, a Thor spokesman said.

Crudos Fusion Sushi’s space will feature 16-foot ceilings with floor-to-ceiling windows and wall-to-wall transparent glazing.
