A charter school in Broward County’s Cooper City was recently sold for $15.5 million — the first time it’s traded hands since the school was built three years ago.

The Renaissance Charter School at Cooper City, located on a six-acre lot at 2800 North Palm Avenue, was sold to the development arm of Charter Schools USA through a deed filed Thursday.

Charter Schools USA is a for-profit manager of educational facilities that owns schools in seven states, including Florida.

The company paid roughly $221 per square foot for the school, which is 70,005 square feet and was built in 2012.

Broward County records show the seller was a joint-venture between MGS Developer in Hollywood and ESJ Capital Partners in Aventura. The two paid $2.6 million in 2011 for the land where they built the school.
