GK Bistronomie, a new chef-driven Peruvian seafood restaurant and Pisco bar, plans to open in Wynwood, The Real Deal has learned.

The restaurant, at 218 Northwest 25th Street in Miami, will be led by Executive Chef Rafael Perez, a native of Peru, who has owned four restaurants in Ecuador and previously worked at the Little Palm Island Resort and Spa in Little Torch Key.

Renovations of GK Bistronomie’s space are still ongoing. The 3,629-square-foot building, built in 1948, was purchased in January 2014 by Iron 218 LL for $1.325 million, according to Miami-Dade property records. Florida records show Elias Amkie Levy and Martin Miculitzki as the entity’s managers. The property currently has posters saying “Coming Soon,” with a picture of a fish.

According to GK Bistronomie’s website, the Relais & Chateaux Guide recognized Zazu, one of Perez’s four Ecuadorian restaurants, as one of the top 300 restaurants in the world. And during Perez’s tenure, the Little Palm Island Resort and Spa was voted the third best restaurant in the United States and No. 1 in Florida by Zagat. Attempts to reach Perez on Wednesday were not successful.

“Wynwood Arts district is a trendy place that inspires possibilities, and this is what I want to do. I want to fuel inspire (sic) with my creations,” Perez said on the restaurant’s website.

The restaurant will be directly across the street from Warby Parker and the soon-to-open Marine Layer, as Wynwood continues to see an influx of new shops and eateries. Among other new dining spots nearby are the Lunchbox and Coyo.
