Metro 1 celebrated the week of Earth Day with a private dinner and launch of Miami’s first greenhouse — the Wynwood Greenhouse.

The full service real estate company’s philanthropic arm raised $750,000 at the “Night of the Monarchs.” The planned 14,000-square-foot public urban park is set to open in early 2016 and has a $2.5 million fundraising goal.

Tony Cho, Metro 1 president and CEO, also led a sustainability panel at the event last week. The dinner included the release of Monarch butterflies, one for each guest, to symbolize “the concept of creating nature in Wynwood’s urban core,” according to a press release.

“One of our main goals is to create the guiding principles for making decisions that positively affect the environment, the community and its stakeholders,” he said in a statement. “We aim to make every neighborhood a better place for the people who live, work, play and learn there.”

Metro 1 recently launched sales of Buena Vista Villas, a mixed-use development with 12 residential units north of Miami’s Design District. The brokerage is also heavily involved in leasing properties in Wynwood. — Katherine Kallergis and Sean Stewart-Muniz
