Ziff family estate in Manalapan is asking nearly $200M

A massive 15.6-acre compound on a barrier island in Manalapan, owned by the Ziff family, has reportedly been put up for sale at just under $200 million.

Dubbed “Gemini,” the estate stretches the width of the island. The main home is a 62,220-square-foot mansion that was built in the 1940s on the island’s oceanfront side, a publication reported.

An underground tunnel, which loops under the island’s main road, connects the mansion to a guest home on the Intracoastal side. The tunnel is air-conditioned, furnished like a living room, complete with a fireplace.

The property also comes with two four-bedroom beach cottages, a seven-bedroom home called the “Mango House,” and a manager’s house with four apartments, the Wall Street Journal reported.

For recreation, there is a practice golf course with two greens, a sports complex with a half tennis and half basketball court, a pool and a boat dock.

There is even a treehouse with a slide for kids, the publication reported.

The Ziff family purchased the home in the 1980s. The property is controlled by a company titled Ocean Boulevard Properties, whose vice president is Tamsen Ziff — the second wife of the late William Ziff Jr.

It is being listed by Carmen D’Angelo, Jr.; Joseph Liguori and Gerard Liguori of Premier Estate Properties. Christie’s International Real Estate is also marketing the property abroad.

Ziff Jr. helped build the Ziff-Davis publishing empire before selling it to investment firm Forstmann Little & Company for $1.4 billion. He died in 2006. [Wall Street Journal]Sean Stewart-Muniz
