Crescent Heights real estate developers want to construct a second Whole Foods Market in Miami Beach, and the city’s planning board is expected to review the developer’s proposal today.

The 55,351-square-foot site at 1901 Alton Road is owned by Wells Fargo Bank, which has a branch there. The bank would become a tenant in the new building designed by Antunovich Associates.

According to the South Florida Business Journal, the project would have 39,601 square feet of retail space, with 185 restaurant seats for Whole Foods (some of which will be outside) and 4,568 square feet for Wells Fargo. It will also feature 300 parking spaces on the second through fourth floors of the four-floor building.

Whole Foods has been aggressively expanding in South Florida, and opened a new store in Pompano Beach on Wednesday.

Crescent Heights is also planning a combined 203,000 square feet of space at 603 Alton Road, 709 Alton Road, and at 1212 Lincoln Road. Whole Foods already has a store at 1020 Alton Road. [South Florida Business Journal] Kristina Puga
