PB zoning commission votes to rezone portion of the Acreage

Plans for Minto West

County government’s opposition to the controversial Minto West development plan appears to be letting up. Yesterday, a Palm Beach County advisory board backed a rezoning request that would allow the project to be built on 3,800 acres near Seminole Pratt Whitney Road.

The nine-member Zoning Commission voted in favor of rezoning the former citrus grove from agriculture residential and public ownership designations to a traditional town development classification, according to the Palm Beach Post.

The decision came less than two months after the county’s planning commission rejected a similar land-use change for the Minto project.

Minto Communities is asking the county to consider two changes to its growth management rules. The changes would allow about 4,500 homes and 2 million square feet of offices and retail space to rise on the nearly six-square-mile site in the heart of the Acreage, the county’s largest rural residential community.
