Cinemex is coming to Brickell City Centre

Brickell City Centre developer Swire Properties is bringing in Mexico City-based Cinemex to open its first U.S. cinema at the Miami mixed-use development.

Cinemex agreed to operate a 35,677-square-foot dine-in cinema at Brickell City Centre starting in 2016, according to Tuesday’s announcement from a project spokesperson. The chain is partnering with Mikel Alonso, chef of prominent Mexican restaurant Biko, and Mexico City mixologist Mica Rousseau for the City Centre location. The 622-seat theatre will include 11 viewing rooms.

Miami-based Loguer Design is handling design work for the Cinemex.

“As the sixth largest cinema chain worldwide, our main focus is to bring the success of Cinemex to downtown Miami,” vice president of concession Javier Ezquerro said. “We believe Brickell City Centre will create the perfect setting for Cinemex.

Last month, Swire landed Saks Fifth Avenue as an anchor tenant for the $1.1 billion project. — Eric Kalis
