The organizers of the Wynwood Gateway Park design competition say they have received submissions from more than 10 countries as the entry deadline approaches.

Applicants from Australia, China, India, Iran, Japan and several European and Latin American nations are vying for the right to design the park behind the planned project, according to a spokesperson for Wynwood Gateway developer Metro 1. Online entries can be submitted until June 10 at www.dawntown.org/wynwood. A panel of judges is slated to convene and select finalists on June 17.

The panel includes Metro 1 CEO and founder Tony Cho, architects Raymond Jungles, Enrique Norten and Allan Shulman and former Miami Art Museum director Terrance Riley.

“We want the Wynwood Gateway Park to become an important part of Wynwood and the Miami community at large for years to come,” Cho said. “We hope others will follow suit and work to develop programs and initiatives that engage and ultimately enhance their communities.” — Eric Kalis
