Boynton Beach commissioners approved a 12-month extension for the construction of a 108-room Marriott TownePlace Suites.
Architect John Vaughan of Delray Beach received a second extension for the project between Gateway and Quantum boulevards. He told city commissioners the latest extension would allow construction to begin by October. The four-story hotel would be finished by October 2015.
The economic downturn led Vaughan to ask for the initial extension in 2011, according to the Palm Beach Post. Commissioners originally approved the project in 2010.
Boynton’s Planning and Development Board granted an 18-month extension in April, but Vice Mayor Joe Casello said he’d be more comfortable with one year during Tuesday’s commission meeting. [Palm Beach Post] — Eric Kalis
