The developer of Avenir in Palm Beach Gardens is mulling a dramatic reduction of the proposed project’s size and scale.

Project planner Victor Dover said Avenir Holdings is considering the elimination of the northern section of the development, which is the largest proposed in Palm Beach Gardens. Dover told this to a crowd of about 100 residents during an Avenir-sponsored public work session on Wednesday night, the Palm Beach Post reported. Getting rid of the Northern Village component would substantially cut the number of homes in Avenir from the planned 7,600.

Avenir Holdings is also thinking about creating equestrian trails in the southern section of the development and incorporating a facility to host equestrian events.

Wednesday’s meeting was the second of three workshops planned over the next two months. Avenir wants to develop the former Vavrus Ranch over a 20-year span. Current zoning only allows 406 homes on the land. [Palm Beach Post]Eric Kalis
