The Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County has started construction on a $250 million retirement community in Boca Raton.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the Sinai Residences of Boca Raton was held last month, with full construction set to begin during the first week of March, the Sun-Sentinel reported. The 237-unit project is scheduled for a late 2015 completion. The development site is on the north side of the federation’s 110-acre headquarters at Glades Road and State Road 7.
State law requires 70 percent of a retirement community’s units to be presold before construction begins. As of last week, about 80 percent of the units were under contract.
The project site has been vacant since 1991. [Sun-Sentinel] — Eric Kalis
