The long-delayed convention center hotel project proposed by the Related Companies in West Palm Beach is moving forward.
City commissioners unanimously approved Related’s site plan for the 400-room hotel, the Palm Beach Post reported. The 13-story Hilton West Palm Beach would also include two ballrooms on a 3.4-acre property. Related wants to begin construction on the hotel early next year and open in 2015.
The hotel is planned for the south side of Okeechobee Boulevard across from CityPlace and the Kravis Center. Related also plans to build a two-story, 423-space parking garage immediately east of the hotel. To appease nearby residents, the company is placing a tarp over the top of the garage.
