Boca Raton developer Pebb Enterprises’ plan to demolish a 50-foot area of trees and shrubbery as an entrance to its 10-acre Royal Palm Beach commercial development project was rejected yesterday.
In a unanimous vote, the Palm Beach County Commission opted to side with residents who were concerned that removal of the buffer on Pioneer Road — about 365 feet east of State Road 7 — would spur traffic and safety problems. Although there is currently access to the project site, only right turns in and out would be allowed. Pebb owner Bruce Weiner said he might change the residential component to commercial if the northeastern side of the site were to gain an access road.
“It’s helping the developer improve their project at the expense of the community,” Commissioner Jess Santamaria said at the meeting, as the Palm Beach Post reported. [Palm Beach Post] — Mark Maurer
