Palm Beach construction companies are hungry for a chance to work on the many individual stores at the $200 million Palm Beach Outlets project.

New England Development and its partners’ 115-tenant shopping center, eyeing a Valentine’s Day opening, will replace Palm Beach Mall at 1801 Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard, near Presidential Way. Contractors learned yesterday at Gaines Park how to make a bid to work on it.

The developer plants to rebuild 1.4 million square feet of retail on the 80-acre space. JCPenney’s former store on the site is slated for demolition next month. The central block of outlets contains 500,000 square feet of retail, including the food court.

The opening of the mall was delayed by three months, just missing the holiday season, as previously reported. New England Development purchased the property for $35.5 million with partners Eastern Real Estate and Lubert-Adler. [Palm Beach Post]Mark Maurer
