Real estate is one of the dominant industries in Miami that Indian investors have their eye on. Likewise, Miami is taking a look at India, Miami Today reported.

To zero in on related business opportunities in the area, the India-USA Chamber of Commerce Inc. South Florida is holding a workshop Sept. 27 at St. Thomas University. The seminar, titled “Doing Business in India,” aims to help Florida firms enter the Indian market.

“What we are expecting in September is to arouse interest in India, not among big corporations because they’re already in India. We’re trying to attract the smaller companies who don’t know much about India. India and China are already the two leading world economies at the moment,” chamber president Madhu Mehta told the publication. “In our own little modest way, we are going to inform South Florida what India is looking for in those four key sectors, such as real estate, which is the biggest thing in India right now and is really booming.”

Organizers are expected to address plans for a trade mission to India in November, Miami Today said.

Indian buyers have scouted the local market before. In May 2012, Danny Hertzberg, a sales associate with Coldwell Banker, said he had taken out several Indian buyers, both those coming directly from India and some purchasers who have lived in the United States for a few years, as previously reported.
