Miami Central StationConstruction begins today on Miami Central Station, according to the South Florida Business Journal. The Florida Department of Transportation intends to complete work on the $147 million, 16.5 acre station by 2013, creating the region’s first ground transportation hub.
Central Station would link Metrobus and Metrorail to Amtrak and Tri-Rail, and should connect to the recently opened MIA Mover, the elevated system that carries people from Miami International Airport to rental car centers.
As previously reported, during construction the Tri-Rail airport station will be closed. [SFBJ].
