The Azria Estate, which was most recently listed for $39 million, led the pack of Los Angeles County homes that went into contract last week.
Douglas Elliman’s Eklund Gomes team said in its weekly roundup the Holmby Hills mansion owned by fashion designer Lubov Azria and her late husband and BCBG founder Max Azria was last week’s largest home under contract within the county based on listing price. The Eklund Gomes report tallies properties in the multiple listing service listed at $4 million or more.
If the deal closes, it would cap a long-running saga for 10250 West Sunset Boulevard, which has been on and off the market for a decade and once touted an $88 million asking price.
The home’s most recent return to the market came in mid-March after a legal tussle brought on by Yucaipa Companies founder Ron Burkle. The private equity investor sued Lubov Azria claiming she “refused to complete the sale” of the property after he won a May auction with a $30 million bid. Burkle filed to drop the lawsuit late last year after a judge ordered him to pay just over $36,000 to Azria for legal expenses.
The Paul Williams-designed Colonial is 30,000 square feet with 14 bedrooms and 25 bathrooms, according to marketing materials. It sits on a nearly 3-acre lot and has a detached 5,500-square-foot building for a theater or game room. Other highlights include a tennis court, gardens and an infinity pool.
The Beverly Hills Estates’ Branden Williams and Rayni Williams are the listing agents.
Last week’s No. 2 contract was for a Los Angeles home at 15427 Milldale Drive, which is dubbed a “Modern Farmhouse” in its listing. It has an asking price just under $13 million.
Sotheby’s International Realty’s Steven Moritz has the listing.
The Milldale Drive property is about 8,000 square feet on over half an acre. It has a metal roof, fire hydrant at the foot of the driveway, motor court, views of the canyon, media room and a primary suite with a fireplace and a deck.
Overall, Los Angeles County counted 16 contracts signed last week, equating to $138.4 million in asking dollar volume, according to Eklund Gomes. That’s down from the prior reporting period ended March 30, which consisted of 25 contracts totaling $166.5 million in asking dollar volume.
